cold hands The night is clear and we are all so bitter at the irony in it. Stars seem to gleam just for us. The frigid air has a way of reminding us why we are here. It has been a long, exhausting week since the news of our grandmother’s death arrived. The light makes my eyes burn now. Everyday tasks have become challenges so overwhelming that just the thought of them provokes a mental breakdown. My head is consumed with a dull, growling pain and thinking encourages a pounding that is virtually unstoppable. The church is beautiful but cold and empty. My cousins and I find courage in ourselves and in each other to find secold hands


RayneThe air is calm and it feels thick and sweet to the skin. Movement is stifled; noise is subdued, both heavy with fatigue. The sky is dark and raging with potential. Thunderous, piercing, clouds loom over the city; poised. A sharp yellow surge emphasizes the contrast between the apparent dull sky and the intensity held within it, as it strikes to prove its capabilities to unsuspecting earth. Growling thunder shocks ear drums and rattles windows mercilessly, warning of anger from above. The wind contests with a hush, and the leaves instantaneously change colour as they are flippeRayne
